A new Eagle Scout Slatington teen earns his wings

Axl Z. Feiller, 18, of Slatington, recently achieved the highest rank in Scouting, the Eagle Scout Award. Feiller is the son of Richard and Connie Reppert.

Feiller was presented with his Eagle Award at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony held Aug. 24 at the American Legion Allen O. Delke Post #16 in Slatington. He completed all the work for his Eagle and was examined by the troop's Board of Review last November.Feiller joined Pack 32 as a Tiger Cub and earned the Arrow of Light award, the highest rank in Cub Scouts.After Cub Scouts, he joined Troop 32 of Whitehall and a few years later transferred into Troop 66.In his Scouting career, Feiller earned a total of 36 merit badges and held various positions with Troop 66, including assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader.Feiller is also a member of the Order of the Arrow.For his Eagle project, Feiller cleared out overgrown brush, debris and trees as well as uncovered and cleaned up grave markers in an old German Evangelical Cemetery as part of a restoration project for the Union Cemetery Association. The restoration project's goal was to allow the existing cemetery site to be used again and new parts opened up.As part of his leadership for this project, Feiller organized 14 individuals from the community, school, and Scouts to work on the cleanup which took approximately 103 hours to complete.Feiller attended Northern Lehigh High School and currently works for MTS Landscaping in Slatedale. His future plans include attending welders training to become a welder.
