Monroe man sought in machete attack

A Monroe County man is being sought by police for the machete attack on two of his relatives Wednesday morning.

Pocono Mountain Regional police are seeking Paul A. Brown, 47, of 426 Northampton Road, in the Pocono Farms Community in Tobyhanna for an attack on two relatives at their home.Police were dispatched to several locations in the Pocono Farms Community about 7:10 a.m. Officers received calls for an assault involving a machete in the area of Devon and Northampton roads.The victims were identified as Matthew Brown, the suspect's son, and Diana Brown, his wife.Police said the two victims ran from the Northampton Road residence where the incident took place. Diana Brown suffered several lacerations including one to the head and had a finger amputated due to the strikes from the machete. Matthew Brown sustained several lacerations to his legs, arms, and head. Both were taken to the Community Medical Center in Scranton for treatment of their injuries.The suspect was last seen by the victims running into the residence with the machete. Police surrounded the residence and the PMRP SWAT unit responded to the scene a short time later.Police obtained a search warrant and arrest warrant, but Brown was not in his home.Paul Brown has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated and simple assault, terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person.Police are asking anyone who might know of the suspect's whereabouts or sees him to call 911.Paul Brown is black, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.Anyone who witnessed the attacks is asked to call police at 570-895-2400.
