The Faith-Paced Walkers Club will be back at Lehigh Canal Park this fall with a new twist.
"We're asking everyone to bring a food item each walk to help feed the hungry in our community this winter season," said Anita Wisler, club founder.Formed in April, the club walked each Tuesday and Thursday from April 22-June 19. The schedule will remain Tuesday and Thursday in the fall, from Sept. 16-Oct. 30, but the times are slightly different.Registration runs from 7:15-7:45 a.m. and the walk begins at 8 a.m. Participants are asked to be back at the canal pavilion by 8:45 a.m. for a prize drawing each walk. The drawing is usually for gift cards to a local business or a gift basket."Our goal in the spring was to connect people in the community, and we ended up with a nice group so decided to keep going," Wisler said. The group has two themes for the upcoming season: "through spring and fall, we walk through it all" and "friends forever walk together."Walkers who attend all 16 sessions will receive a small prize at the end of the fall campaign.About 25-30 people attended each walk in the spring. For more information on the club, contact Wisler at 610-377-5395.
