Church picnic

The congregation and Sunday school of St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold a church picnic on Sunday at Memorial Park. The morning worship will begin at 11 a.m. at the park. There will be no radio broadcast of the usual worship service.Families that have signed up are reminded to bring a covered dish to share, prize for the bingo table and possibly an item for the cake walk.Electronic recyclingThe Jim Thorpe Borough will conduct an electronic recycling on Saturday at the borough garage from 7 to 11 a.m. There will be a $20 fee if you plan to discard a TV. Those who will be recycling must show proof of residence of the borough.If you have questions call the borough office, 570-325-3025.Community supperThe next free community supper sponsored by St. John's/St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Race Street, is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Great Hall. This will be a pork and sauerkraut dinner.
