PPL donates $2K to nature center

The Lehigh Gap Nature Center recently received $2,000 from PPL in support of its field trip programs for the Carbon County school districts and the center's Naturalist Clubs for K-12 students.

"We appreciate the donation from PPL because it allows us to subsidize field trips for the school districts that surround Lehigh Gap Nature Center," said Dan Kunkle, LGNC's executive director. "This is the only Superfund site in the nation that has been transformed into an environmental education center, and the children in the surrounding school districts should know about this wonderful resource in their backyards."PPL has been supporting the center's education programs and conservation work for the past 10 years."As a company that cares about the environment and education, we are pleased to support the Lehigh Gap Nature Center and its ongoing efforts to help children of all ages learn about the region's wildlife and habitats," said Paul Canevari, PPL's regional affairs director for the Pocono region. The center is located at 8844 Paint Mill Road in Slatington.
