Firefighters from all areas Schuylkill County are battling a stubborn blaze at six row houses in Mahanoy City.

The fire, which began at 6:20 p.m., is impacting a series of three-story, woodframe houses at 217 to 231 Centre St., Route 54.

Residents of 217 Centre said they believe the blaze began in an unoccupied dwelling at the center of the row. All residents were safely evacuated. At least one firefighter was taken to the hospital.
