Tamaqua man on trial in rape case

A Tamaqua man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in January 2013 gets his chance to make his case before a Schuylkill County jury today.

Borough police charged Angel Anthony Resto, 22, formerly of 62 Hunter St., with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault of a person between the ages of 8 and 11, indecent assault on a person younger than 13, corruption of minors, and unlawful sexual contact with a minor.President Judge William Baldwin will preside, with Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Lehman prosecuting and Christopher Reidlinger providing Resto's defense.The incident occurred on Jan. 5, 2013 according to court documents. Resto is lodged in Schuylkill County prison under $25,000 bail.
