Jacob Snyder of Nesquehoning, a member of Boy Scout Troop 744, has built a flag-burning pit and purchased a flagpole and two benches at the Nesquehoning VFW.

The project, which took about a month to complete, will allow Snyder to advance toward becoming an Eagle Scout.The VFW Women's Auxiliary, Michael J. Bodnar and the Nesquehoning Sokol Club contributed toward the $800 project.At 5 p.m. on Saturday a ceremony will be held to use the flag burning pit for the first time at the Nesquehoning VFW.
