A Palmerton man is in critical condition after being hit by a car Monday morning.

According to Palmerton Chief of Police Randy Smith, Annette Wargo, 76, of Palmerton was driving west on Delaware Avenue in Palmerton and struck Carl Eckhart of Palmerton, with the left side of her vehicle.Eckhart was standing somewhere in the middle of the street between 242-248 Delaware Ave.Palmerton Ambulance answered the call with the Lehighton Ambulance also responding.Eckhart was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, with a head injury.He was part of the work crew subcontracted by Fred Lesher Construction, repairing sidewalks in front of Hager's Furniture.
