Homeward bound for local dog

On Monday, a call was made to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, reporting a lost dog.

Tom Connors, director of the shelter, said he took as much information as he could, gathering that the dog was a miniature pinscher named Bruiser, last seen at its home in Tuscarora, Schuylkill County.A short while later, he received a call regarding a mini pinscher on the loose on Ashtown Road in Lehighton, but he said he didn't suspect it was Bruiser, since the distance from Tuscarora to Lehighton was a sigificant one for such a short amount of time. After a relentless two hours, Connors said they gave up trying to catch the pup. Finally, on Tuesday afternoon, a resident on Ashtown Road called to report that the dog was in his garage, and it was brought to the shelter.Connors thought the dog might be Bruiser, and he was right. The owners, who had recently moved from Nesquehoning to Tuscarora, thought perhaps Bruiser had attempted to find his way back to his old home. They claimed him at the animal shelter on Wednesday afternoon.

Bruiser tried making his way from his owners' new home in Tuscarora to their old home in Nesquehoning, covering about 20 miles in just about a day.
