Pedestrian struck in Palmerton

A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle this morning in Palmerton.

According to Palmerton Chief of Police, Randal Smith, Annette Wargo, 76, of Palmerton, was driving west on Delaware Avenue just before 10:30 a.m., when she struck Carl Eckhart of Palmerton, with the left side of her vehicle. Eckhart was standing somewhere in the middle of the street between 242-248 Delaware Ave., in the vicinity of Hager Furniture Co.Eckhart's head struck Wargo's windshield.Palmerton Ambulance answered the call with the Lehighton Ambulance also responding. He was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, with a head injury.Eckhart was part of the work crew subcontracted by Fred Lesher Construction repairing sidewalks in front of Hager's Furniture.
