Downed stop sign leads to crash

A Pottsville man was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Matthew Shields, 22, was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center South for treatment. Shields was a passenger in a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Brady M. Wile, 21, of Pottsville.The Jetta reportedly ran a stop sign, which was not visible after it was knocked down in a prior crash, at the Chestnut Street and Sweet Arrow Lake Road intersection in North Manheim Township. The vehicle collided with a 2014 Toyota Camry, driven by Linda L. Rickert, 66, of Ashland, around 12:48 p.m.Rickert and Wile were uninjured. A second passenger in the Jetta, Jeremy Hoke, 22, of Pottsville, was treated and released at the scene.
