Beer? Money? Drugs? Man goes door-to-door on quest

Police have arrested a Coaldale man who went door-to-door in Lansford on Saturday asking for money, beer and drugs.

James Scott Nahf, 48, was charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, harassment, terroristic threats and criminal trespass. He was arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.According to an affidavit of probable cause, officer Richard Reis had received complaints about the solicitations. One caller said Nahf had walked into the house uninvited. He spoke with a visibly intoxicated Nahf, whose speech was slurred, and who could stand up straight. When Reis asked Nahf what he was doing, Nahf “squared up like he was ready to fight.”He handcuffed Nahf, who told him to just charge him and let him go. Reis took Nahf to the police station and sat him on a chair with his hands cuffed behind his back.As Reis spoke with a victim, Nahf walked over to the front counter. Reis told him three times to sit down, but Nahf ignored him.Reis sat him down and cuffed him to the chair. As Reis typed the charges, Nahf threatened to “beat the (expletive) out of” him if he went to prison.Nahf grew more agitated, telling Reis he didn’t know who he was dealing with and that he would “beat Reis’ (expletive) as soon as the handcuffs were removed.
