Effort man pleads to heroin ring

An Effort man faces up to 20 years in prison for his role in a heroin distribution ring after pleading guilty in U.S. Middle District Court Monday.

Kerion Johnson, 40, admitted to conspiring to distribute heroin in the Monroe County area between November 2013 and April 22, 2014.The U.S. District Attorney's office filed charges on June 4 following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police.Senior U.S. District Court Judge Richard P. Conaboy will sentence Johnson at a later date. Johnson, who also faces up to $1 million in fines, will be detained in prison until sentencing.Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa is prosecuting the case.
