Events are scheduled this weekend leading up to the nine-day celebration of Slatington's Sesquicentennial in August.

The Moose Lodge of Slatington is planning a special event tonight. "Hydraulic Wine" will be performing from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Cover charge is $2 per person and this fundraiser is open to the public.The Slatington 150th Committee is celebrating its Pennsylvania German heritage with a "Dutchy Dinner and Basket Raffle" from 12-to-5 p.m. Sunday at the Friedens Fire Company.The dinner will include pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, chow chow, lettuce with bacon dressing, and roll with apple butter. Cost is $10 per person and $6 for children 12 and under. Basket raffle winners will be announced at 4 p.m. Basket donations are still needed.On Monday, the Planning Committee will hold its regular meeting outdoors at Dorward Electric Corp., 450 W. Church St., Slatington. Both the 1964 and the 1989 time capsules will be opened at that time.
