Head Start programs announce registration

Registration for Head Start or Early Head Start is now open.

Openings fill up quickly, so it is recommended parents not wait until the end of summer or right before the school year starts. A child will go on a wait list if all spots are filled.Children must be age eligible and meet the income guidelines. Families who receive unemployment benefits, work at a low paying job or receive SSI are a few of those who may be income eligible.Head Start serves children ages 3 to 5. Families living in the Panther Valley, Palmerton, Jim Thorpe and Lehighton school districts are eligible.Early Head Start serves children from birth to 3 years old.Pregnant women are also eligible for the program.The Coaldale Center, which serves the Panther Valley School district area, has openings for Early Head Start and for the home-based program.The Lehighton center has openings only for home-based services for families residing in the Lehighton or Palmerton school district areas.To register or for more information, call 610-377-5671 or 570-645-7578
