Lansford man facing charges here and NY

A Lansford man, also wanted in New York, is facing several charges following an incident in Nesquehoning.

At 10:57 p.m. May 16, officers Brian White and Robert Blisard were dispatched to 247 Stock St., for a report of suspicious people with a dark pickup backed in front of the building. On scene officers observed hoses hooked up to the building fuel oil tank and 55-gallon drums. The two were attempting to remove fuel oil from the tank. One person was identified as Jose Baez, who police later learned had been evicted from the building and had no right to take the fuel oil. He later turned over the key to the building. The other person gave a name of Jose Molina and a birth date. Repeated attempts to verify his name by birth date were unsuccessful. When police began to question him he fled from the scene across the street into nearby woods. The two officers pursued him and eventually had to use a stun gun to subdue him and take him into custody. He was transported to the Lehighton hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the chase. Officer Blisard also was treated at the hospital for injuries he sustained.Through the course of the investigation, including taking the suspect to the state police barracks at Lehighton for a live scan, it was determined that Molino was actually Pedro Luis Lopez, 44, of 262 E. Kline Ave.It was also learned that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of New York City.New York probation personnel were contacted and said they would extradite Lopez. He was placed in the county prison on the warrant.White charged him with escape, flight to avoid apprehension, simple assault, resisting arrest, false identification to law enforcement, harassment, and two counts of disorderly conduct.
