LCCC names new president

Lehigh Carbon Community College named Dr. Ann D. Bieber as its new president Monday night at the Schnecksville campus. Her position will be formally approved on June 5 and effective on July 1.

The search for a new president began in December with an appointment of members of the presidential search committee. According to Audrey Larvey, member of the LCCC Board of Trustees, the process was “extremely time-consuming.”

After choosing Greenwood/Asher & Associates Inc. as a search firm, a job description was made and applied to candidates across the country. Fifteen well-credentialed leaders were interviewed over Skype, then narrowed down to five candidates to be interviewed in person.

“We wanted everyone’s input. We wanted to encourage participation,” says Larvey.

LCCC’s institution “serves the community by providing high quality education that is affordable and accessible,” according to its mission statement.

Kenneth H. Mohr Jr., Chairman of the Board of Trustees, says, “We want to ensure that mission of the college is effectively transmitted.”

Bieber received her bachelor’s degree from Cedar Crest College, her master’s from Kutztown University, and her doctorate from Capella University.
