Beginning Monday, the properties of Rush Township residents with delinquent sewer bills will be posted with water shut-off notices.
At the end of 2013, the township had $126,000 in past-due sewer bills and had reduced that to $96,000 in March, when supervisors sent warning letters. Certified letters will be sent Monday, and properties will be posted as well, supervisors said after their meeting Thursday. In other action, resident Bill Boyer said that the township had removed trees which he claims were on his property. In March, Boyer had complained that township workers had damaged the trees. The township had the area surveyed, and found that the trees were located within the township right of way. During the meeting Thursday, the supervisors passed a resolution noting that trees located within or hanging over township rights of way on Ryan Avenue and South Street constitute a hazardous or dangerous condition and impair the use or maintenance of the rights of way.The township intends to remove the trees. Boyer said during the meeting that according to his survey, the trees are on his property."I hope the township has a lot of money," Boyer said. Boyer's property is bounded by Ryan Avenue and South Street.
