A Schuylkill County motorcyclist was injured and flown to a Lehigh Valley area hospital following a crash that occurred about 1:43 p.m. Friday, April 25.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred along Green Tree Drive in North Manheim Townshp.Troopers said Jerome F. Kimmel, 39, of Auburn, was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson Soft Tail motorcycle westbound and traveling downhill while approaching a right hand curve.Kimmel was traveling too fast around the curve, which caused him to lose control. The bike struck the eastbound guide rail three separate times as it continued west on the eastbound shoulder. The bike came to rest beneath the guide rail at the third point of impact.Kimmel was thrown from the bike over the guide rail and was located about 50 feet from the road on the eastbound berm by a witness.He was flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of injuries. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
