Four placed in ARD probation program

Four first time offenders were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Tuesday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, they will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.The four were placed for a year.Christopher A. Campolo, 28, of Abington, was placed on a charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. He was arrested along West Catawissa Street by Nesquehoning police on Nov. 30, 2013.He was assessed $450 for the costs of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Robert Lee Clifford, 20, of Summit Hill, was placed on a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police. He was arrested on Jan. 19, 2012, along Patterson Street by Lansford police.He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Donovan James Mikitz, 32, of Allentown, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Nov. 3, 2013, along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East by Mahoning Township police.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Nikki Rehrig, 19, of Tamaqua, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Dec. 21, 2013, in the area of 265 E. Bertsch St., by Lansford police.She was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
