Panthers, Raiders, Bears all get wins

The Panther Valley baseball team continued their winning ways of late, getting their third win in their last four games. The Panthers defeated Jim Thorpe 3-0 for the Schuylkill League Division I win.

In a big time Schuylkill League Division I match-up, Tamaqua defeated Blue Mountain 5-4, keeping their hopes alive for a Division I title.Pleasant Valley was also victorious on the diamond, defeating East Stroudsburg North by a score of 13-5 in Mountain Valley Conference play.In softball action, Lehighton was able to defeat Pocono Mountain East in MVC play, while Jim Thorpe swept North Schuylkill in a Schuylkill League Division I track meet.BASEBALLJim Thorpe-Panther ValleyPanther Valley's Luke Stano took a perfect game into the seventh inning and led his team to a 3-0 win over Jim Thorpe.Stano, who struck out seven in the game and walked none, eventually gave up a hit in the top of the seventh from the mound. Offensively, Matt Hudicka finished with a RBI single and scored a run, while Jake Kusko had two hits. MacDonald finished the game with two hits, two runs scored, the double, a sacrifice and a stolen base. Roberts had the game winner and earlier contributed a double, while Adam Bates had two hits, including a double. L - Shaud.TRACKJim Thorpe-North SchuylkillJim Thorpe utilized some strong individual performances to sweep their track meet against North Schuylkill, as the girls won 81-69, with the boys pulling off a 90-60 victory.Khaaliq Lynch was victorious in each event he entered, as he took first in the 100, 200, long jump and anchored the 400 relay. Teammate Deonte St. Hill was also part of that winning relay, and won the javelin and the triple jump.On the girls' side, Amber Castillo managed to win each event, as well, taking the 100, 200, 400 and was a part of the winning 1600 relay team.
