Suspected meth lab raided in Lehighton

A suspected methamphetamine lab was raided in the downtown business district of Lehighton early Friday morning, resulting in two arrests.

According to court records, two small children resided in the residence. They are a 4-year-old girl and an infant boy.The raid by Lehighton borough police and personnel from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General happened at about 6:10 a.m. in the 100 block of South First Street.Arrested were Amanda Messinger, 23, and Damian Eidem, 27.Both were arraigned before District Judge Edward M. Lewis of Jim Thorpe, who set bail at $100,000 each. They were then committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, after being unable to post the bail.Reportedly taken during the raid were various ingredients used in the manufacture of meth and 10 grams of suspected meth.Police investigators used protective gear during the raid and while removing the items.Messinger is facing a total of seven charges, including one count each of endangering the welfare of children; possession of ingredients with intent to manufacture a controlled substance; operating a methamphetamine lab; and four counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.Eidem has six charges filed against him. They are one count each of endangering welfare of children and possession of ingredients with intent to manufacture a controlled substance; and two counts each of operating a methamphetamine lab and manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.Judge Lewis has set the tentative hearing dates for both suspects on April 23.The arresting officer was Charles W. Horvath with the Office of the Attorney General.
