St. Luke's offers seminars on ways to remain healthy

St. Luke's University Hospital Miners Campus is hosting seminars on health-related topics which are open to the public.

Some sessions will be held at locations throughout the community, but the bulk will be held at the hospital in Coaldale.A seminar on exercise and heart disease risks, offered by Joseph Paluck, exercise physiologist will be held from 11 a.m. until noon April 29 at the Y in Tamaqua, and from 4-5 p.m. May 13 at Pyramid Sports, 230 Ochre St., Lehighton.Sessions on weight management and Type 2 Diabetes will be offered by Kim Otto, CRNP, and Vanessa Perez, CRNP, on two dates.The first will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 24 in the community room at St. Luke's, with the second scheduled for 6-7 p.m. May 13 at the Tamaqua Medical Center, 137 Railroad St., Tamaqua.On April 26, Drs. Roderick Quiros and Neil Belman will speak on the topic of breakthroughs in cancer research.This session will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Mahoning Valley Country Club, 323 Country Club Road, Lehighton, and will include a free breakfast.The benefits of colorectal cancer screening will be the topic of the April 28 session, which will be held from 5-6 p.m. at St. Luke's Miners.The presentation will be offered by Dr. Daniel Bowers.Dr. Jonathan Bingham will speak about blood in the urine on May 7.The session will be held from 6-7 p.m. in St. Luke's Miners Community Room.Joseph Tocci will present sessions designed to better understand the workings of the body.A session on knowing yourself from the inside out will be offered from 11 a.m.-noon May 1, while a session on then and now will be offered from noon until 1 p.m. May 21.Both sessions will be held at the Tamaqua YMCA.Seating is limited for all of these free sessions, so preregistration is required.
