Kindergarten registration in the Jim Thorpe Area School District for the 2014-2015 school year will be held in April for the L.B. Morris and Penn Kidder buildings. The district offers a full-day kindergarten experience for its students.

Registration for L.B. Morris will be held Tuesday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 23. Registration for the Penn Kidder Campus will be held Tuesday, April 24, and Friday, April 25. Children must be 5 by September 1, 2014, to be eligible for kindergarten registration. Parents should call the appropriate school office as registration is by appointment only. A parent or the legal guardian of the child must attend registration. Registration paperwork will not be accepted from other family members. At that time the following documents must be presented:* Proof of Student's Age: Any one of the following constitutes acceptable documentation: Birth certificate; notarized copy of birth certificate; baptismal certificate; copy of the record of baptism, notarized or duly certified and showing the date of birth; notarized statement from the parents or another relative indicating the date of birth; a valid passport; a prior school record indicating the date of birth.* Immunization Records: Acceptable documentation includes the child's immunization record, a written statement from the former school or from a medical office that the required immunizations have been administered or that a required series are in progress, or verbal affirmation from the former school district or medical office that the required immunizations have been completed, with records to follow.* Proof of Residency: Includes the following acceptable documentation: A deed, a lease, current utility bill, current credit card bill, property tax bill, vehicle registration, driver's license or DOT identification card. A district may require more than one form of residency confirmation be provided. Jim Thorpe School district requests two proofs of residency. If you are residing in someone else's home, a notarized letter from the homeowner or renter is required along with their proof of residency.* Custody Agreements: If applicable, please bring a copy of any custody agreements for the school to have on file.Parents are asked not to bring their child to this registration. An appointment for a prescreening assessment will be scheduled at the time of registration. Also, a special kindergarten orientation day is planned for August for the students to meet the teachers and tour the school.Any questions regarding kindergarten registration should be directed to the L.B.
