Registration is now open for organizations who would like to take part in the upcoming Carbon County Community Safety Day.

The event, organized by state Sen. John Yudichak, Carbon County Safe Kids, the Carbon County Commissioners, and Carbon Masonic Lodge 242, will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, Lentz Trail, Jim Thorpe."Last year's event was a huge success, said Mindy Graver, chairwoman of Carbon County Safe Kids. "We had 25 agencies participate, 14 fire companies/first responders, two water safety teams and the Penn Star Helicopter. Over 1,000 participants registered and 130 volunteers helped that day."The group is currently working on finalizing details for this year's event.Agencies wishing to participate need to have an activity that focuses on children and safety is required. You must provide your own table, chairs and tent.
