Allentown woman charged with stabbing grandfather

A 21-year-old Allentown woman has been charged in the stabbing death of her 65-year-old grandfather, who was found in an Allentown apartment early Tuesdaqy morning.

Chene A. Mejias was charged with homicide in the death of Wilson A. Mejias, who was found in the bedroom of his apartment at 841 S. 12th St., Allentown, where he lived with thedefendant.According to an affidavit of probable cause prepared by an Allentown detective and filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge David Howells in Allentown:At about 2:26 a.m. Tueaday, the Allentown Police Department received a call from police officers in Bronx, N.Y., who reported that a female came to their department andnotified them that a man had been killed inside a first-floor apartment at 841 S. 12th St. in Allentown.Allentown police went to the address to check on the welfare of the occupant and found Wilson Mejias, who had not yet been identified, in a bedroom of the apartment. The victim wascovered in bedding, towels, sheets and plastic bags.Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim ruled the manner of death as homicide and the cause of death as multiple stab wounds.Allentown Detective Steve Milkovits and Detective Joseph Vazquez of the Lehigh County District Attorney's Homicide Task Force investigated the case.The defendant is being detained in New York on the warrant of arrest, and extradition proceedings will be initiated if the defendant does not waive extradition from New York.
