Environmental Education Center hosts photo contest

The Carbon County Environmental Education Center is calling all photographers.

The center, located along Lentz Trail in Summit Hill, is hosting its third annual Photography Contest throughout the month of March. This year's theme is Carbon County.Jeannie Carl, naturalist at the center, said there are three categories wildlife, macro and landscape photography.The center will display the pieces all month to allow for visitors to vote for their favorite. Two professional photographers will then judge the entries at the end of the month.First place winners will be chosen in each of the three categories. There will also be a best of show entry selected; as well as a People's Choice winner.All entries must be the photographer's original works, be framed and wired securely for hanging, not be larger than three feet in any direction and cannot have sharp edges.Carl said that anyone who wishes to submit a photo can do so by filling out a registration form at the center. This form must be secured to the back of the photograph. There is also a $5 registration fee.Photographers also have the option to sell the print during the contest. CCEEC keeps 10 percent commission from any print sold.Drop off times are anytime between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.For more information, or for a registration form, contact the Carbon County Environmental Education Center at 570-645-8597; or visit the center at 151 E.
