Firefighters from five communities battled a fire that heavily damaged a vacant house early this morning in Lansford.

The fire happened shortly before 2 a.m. at 22 E. Kline Alley. Flames caused heavy damage on the first floor and front porch of the structure.A state police fire marshal has been summoned to help determine the cause.There were no reported injuries.Although firefighters had a quick knock-down of the fire, they remained at the scene for about two hours.
