A trailer-load of broken glass was spilled for about three miles across all four lanes of Route 248 early this morning between Franklin Township and Bowmanstown, closing the highway for nearly six hours.

The incident was reported at about 12:25 a.m. State police at Lehighton barracks said at some parts of the highway in Bowmanstown, the glass fragments were up to an inch deep.
