A second round of snow will move through the area later tonight, dropping an additional accumulation as it moves north.

The second part of the system will be heavy at times and has the potential to drop an additional four to eight inches of snow before all is said and done Friday morning.Most areas throughout the region received an average of six-and-a-half inches, with some places in the Poconos and outlying parts receiving nearly a foot. In Barnesville, 11 inches was recorded late this afternoon.A number of schools have already shut down Friday, giving the students a five-day Presidents Day weekend. Closures include CCTI, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Palmerton, Panther Valley, Our Lady of the Angels Academy, St. John Neumann, St. Joseph Regional, and SS. Peter and Paul in Carbon; Pleasant Valley in Monroe; Tamaqua and St. Jerome Regional in Schuylkill; and Northwestern Lehigh and Northern Lehigh in Lehigh County.Snow emergencies remain in effect in a number of municipalities including Lansford, Palmerton, Bowmanstown, Coaldale, Jim Thorpe, Weatherly and Nesquehoning.A number of incidents were reported during the height of the storm.Around noon, an awning on the Econo Lodge in Kidder Township collapsed from the weight of the snow. No injuries were reported and the guests staying in rooms below the collapsed portion were moved to other parts of the hotel.Shortly after 3 p.m., reports came in of a roll-over crash occurring in Franklin Township. The accident involved one vehicle.

A look at the weekendFriday looks like it will be a nice day, with some breaks of sun and the chance for above freezing temperatures during the day. This will give road crews the opportunity to plow streets. Snow parking ordinances are in effect in all municipalities and will be enforced.The break from winter is short-lived as another minor snow event is forecast for the region Saturday morning.According to the National Weather Service, the storm could drop an inch or two of snow before it moves out of the area late Saturday morning.Following Saturday's storm, the National Weather Service states that another nuisance storm may move through Monday night into Tuesday, but temperatures are expected to rise above freezing so it is unclear at this time whether the storm will be a mostly rain or snow event.
