PennDOT removes restriction on certain vehicles on Interstates 78 and 81

Allentown- PennDOT has lifted the temporary restriction on certain vehicles from traveling on Interstate 78 and Interstate 81 in east central Pennsylvania.

Due to the winter storm impacting the region, PennDOT temporarily restricted certain vehicles from using the interstates earlier today to help ensure that the interstates remained open during the most challenging conditions of the winter storm.The types of vehicles that were prohibited from traveling on the interstates in the region since 5:30 a.m. were: Empty straight trucks; Large Combination Vehicles (tandem trailers and doubles); Tractors hauling empty trailers; Trailers pulled by passenger vehicles; Motorcycles; and Recreational Vehicles, or RVs.Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting
