A rash of traffic accidents, mainly "fender-benders," occurred Saturday night after a series of wind-whipped snow showers cut visibility to near zero at times and left area highways with a glaze.

"We were plagued with snow squalls from Saturday evening until about 4 o'clock Sunday morning," Jerry Dotter, a PennDOT official in Carbon County said. He said plowing was required on stretches of routes 940 and 903 in Kidder Township.
