CCTI health medical nurse aide students helping save lives

In November Kaylee Murphy and Jeanna Struble hosted a Miller-Keystone Blood Drive at Carbon Career and Technical Institute. Prior to the drive, health medical nurse aide students were trained by a representative from Miller-Keystone Blood Center to become official volunteers. They are now able to volunteer at any blood drive held by Miller-Keystone. Volunteers work with donors during registration, donation, and canteen. Student volunteers provide donors with snacks and drinks prior to donation to ensure sodium and fluid levels are adequate for donation. CCTI will host another blood drive March 28. The blood collected plays a critical role in saving the lives of premature infants, cancer patients, cardiac patients, burn victims and accident/trauma victims.
