Drug convictions result in state prison sentences

The following were sentenced in Schuylkill County Court to state prison.

Alicia Marie Rivera, 28, Freemansburg, who was cited by Trooper Scott Grochowski for smuggling 16 packets of heroin into the state correctional facility in Mahanoy Township, was sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller for possession of controlled substance contraband, to serve two to four years in a state correctional facility, fined $500, and ordered to make restitution of $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.She had pleaded guilty to the charge.Keven Warren Warmkessel, 25, Port Carbon, was placed by Judge James P. Goodman in the state's Intermediate Punishment Program for 24 months to include seven months confinement in a state prison, four months placement in an alcohol or drug therapeutic community followed by two months in a community-based alcohol and drug therapeutic community, followed by six months outpatient treatment with supervised reintegration into the community.He had entered a no defense plea to a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in an exchange which took place in a supermarket parking lot in Tamaqua.The charge was filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Houser.
