Twenty area residents are arraigned on criminal counts

Twenty area residents were among 102 defendants in criminal cases arraigned before District Attorney Christine Holman on Monday at the Schuylkill County courthouse:

Ashley Blum, 22, of 111 Gay St., Tamaqua, formerly of Lansford, charged by Rush Township Patrolman Bradley Hess, with theft of a laptop computer from Rent-A-Store, Plaza Drive, Hometown, by failing to make payments.Nathaniel Davis, 64, of 222 E. Broad St., Apt. 507, Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Joseph Krebs, with driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to drive at a safe speed.Jesse M. Becker, 27, of 415 N. Railroad St., Apt. 1, Tamaqua, charged by Rush Sgt. Duane Frederick, with criminal conspiracy, theft of a coffee maker from Walmart Store, Hometown, receiving stolen property, and driving while his license was suspended.Patrick B. McCarthy, 30, of 722 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, charged by Kline Township Chief John Petrilla, with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.Ashley M. Sist, 28, of 27 N. Manning St., McAdoo, charged by McAdoo Chief Jeffrey Wainwright, with theft of $250 in cash belonging to Robert Molaski, McAdoo, receiving stolen property, and disorderly conduct.John Smith, 24, of 216 Owl Creek Road, Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Joseph Krebs, with retail theft of five packs of hot dogs from Boyer's Food Market, and public drunkenness.Samantha Lynn Richardson, 23, of 236 W. Rowe St., Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods, with access device fraud by using credit card belonging to Eleanor Seladones, 106 Pitt St., her mother; theft, and receiving stolen property through 19 unauthorized transactions totaling $689.75.Brian Scott Fritz, 37, of 335 Hazle St., Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig, with possessing prohibitive weapons, namely brass knuckles and a switch blade, and public drunkenness.Joshua Robert McArdle, 22, of 426 Arlington St., Tamaqua, charged by Trooper Thomas Powell with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia when confronted on Rose Street, Tamaqua, after fleeing from his vehicle. He is also wanted by police in Bern Township, Berks County, for allegedly striking a police officer with his vehicle who was investigating drug activities.Jodey Allen Mertz, 46, of 165 Fourth St., Coaldale, charged by Coaldale Criminal Investigator Todd Weiss, with simple assault and harassment of Morgan Kevenaar.William A.
