Where we want to go

We asked area residents where they would go if they could escape to someplace warm. Here's what they said:

Frank Walton, Tamaqua: I would go to the place we discovered nearly 20 years ago. My wife Lois and I tried many of the beaches in Florida until we discover Key West Florida. The Florida Keys are coral islands that actually do not have beaches like they do on the Atlantic Coast. They must import sand from the outer islands so one needs to wear foot covering out in the water. Key West has the most steady temperatures I've ever seen, generally around 80 degrees year round, with a sea breeze of 10-15 mph and low humidity. We usually go for a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas, then in the later part of February/March for two weeks. One gets to meet people from all over the county and the world. Most outdoor restaurants are not even air-conditioned. It's funny to watch the locals put on long pants and jackets when it drops into the seventies some evenings.A few Facebook replies:Karen Schaepkens Smith: Bermuda!Mary Ann Halenar: Jamaica. Yeah MonHelena Barker: Take that midnight train to Georgia lolJamie Bliz: Montego BayOf course you'll find a few content people anywhere:MaryAnn McDonald Castka said: Nowhere! I love it here!Shaun Strohl said he'd like to go to "Alaska next to a wood fire," and Ray W. Wilkinson wants to head north to the Yukon.
