New Schuylkill DA names staff

A Tamaqua attorney has joined the staff of newly elected Schuylkill County District Attorney Christine Holman in one of the largest turnovers in staff in years.

Attorney Gary D. Marchalk joins a staff containing five other new attorneys, William L.J. Burke, James Flagella, Robert I. Lipkin, and John Fegley. Attorney Maria T. Casey, Orwigsburg, will be the first assistant district attorney.Resigning were Thomas J. Campion Jr., who was first assistant; Michael O'Pake, Rachel M. Cichowic, Douglas J. Taglieri, Thomas J. Pellish, and Robert M. Reedy.Retained from former District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon's staff were Jennifer N. Lehman, Keith D. Hoppes, and Debra A Smith. Casey will be full time first assistant while Lipkin, Fegley, and Lehman will be full time assistant district attorneys. Marchalk, Burke, Flagella, and Smith will be part time assistant district attorneys.Holman is also adding a new concept by assigning her assistants to represent the Commonwealth prosecuting criminal cases in magisterial district judges offices.Lehman is assigned to District Justice Stephen J. Bayer, whose court is located in Tamaqua; Marchalk, to District Justice Christoper E. Hale, Frackville; Burke to newly elected District Justice David J. Rossi, Tremont; Flagella to District Justice James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg; Lipkin to District Justice James K. Reiley, Pottsville; ASmith to District Justice Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah; and Fegley to District Justice David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.
