Icy road conditionsSunday afternoon were blamed for a crash that took the life of a Schuylkill County woman.

State police at Schuylkill Haven identified thevictim as AmandaMinnich, 25, of Center Street in the village ofDonaldson, Tremont Township. Troopers said the crash occurred about 2:50 p.m. along SR209, about a mile north of TremontBorough in Tremont Township.Troopers said Minnich was operating a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire southbound and approaching an area locally known as "Indianhead" when the vehicle slid on the slushy and ice-covered road.The car slid off the road and onto the shoulder, sliding sideways into a tree on the driver's side. After impact the car spun counter-clockwise about 45 degrees before sliding another 10 feet before coming to final rest about 20 feet from the road.Minnich was pronounced dead at the scene by county deputy coroner Joseph Pothering.A passenger, Amber Smith, 24, of Old Forge Road, Pine Grove, was taken by ambulance to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment of injuries.Troopers noted an emergency medical helicopter was requested but was unable to come to the scene due to weather conditions.
