Members and guests attended the annual picnic of the Lewistown Valley Garden Club, held at Leiby's Grove.

The Rev. Robert Adams offered the invocation. A pot luck meal was served, followed by a business meeting.Joan Fritz and Charlotte Lorah led games, and prizes were awarded.The next meeting will be Aug. 26 at the social hall of Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The speaker will be Monroe Cressley, who will present a program on bees.The lunch committee for the meeting is Ruth Berber and Mary Bridygham.Meetings are open for anyone wishing to attend.Members of the club received awards in the Floral Exhibits category at the Schuylkill County Fair.The theme for entries was "Weather."The award winners, in order of placement, and categories, are:Sunshine: Judy Kellner, Evelyn Adams and Mary Bridygham, all of Lewistown Valley Garden Club.Snow: Arlene Felty, Carol Kohn, and Sandi Murton. Murton is from the South Schuylkill Garden Club.Heat: Judy Kellner, Evelyn Adams and Mary Bridygham.Cool Breezes: Evelyn Adams, Mary Bridygham and Judy Kellner.Swag: Evelyn Adams, Mary Bridygham and Judy Kellner.Judy Kellner was awarded the Best in Show arrangement for her entry in the Heat category.
