The Tamaqua Street Machine Association will hold a special meeting to discuss the future of the car lovers' organization. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 26 at La Dolce Casa on West Broad Street in Tamaqua.All current members and anyone interested in cars are welcome to attend.Snow rulesTamaqua residents are reminded of borough rules concerning snow removal.Property owners are required to maintain a clear path, at least three feet wide, on sidewalks. Snow and/or ice must be removed from these pathways within 24 hours of the end of a snowstorm.Snow, ice and other materials may not be thrown into the streets. Fines of $25 and up may be imposed on anyone caught throwing snow or ice into the street, or who fails to maintain a snow-free pathway.In addition, individuals who plow snow from in front of homes and businesses must remove any piles of snow they create. Anyone piling snow in the street/parking areas could be cited.Residents are also to refrain from piling snow near fire hydrants or on top of storm drains and are encouraged to clear snow from these areas.Further information is available by calling 570-668-3444 or 570-668-0300.Tax exemptionsThe Schuylkill County and Tamaqua Borough Per Capita and Occupation Tax Exemption Forms for the year 2014 will become available on Monday for Borough of Tamaqua residents.The exemption forms can be obtained at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.Forms will also be available at tax collector Alan Kerr's office, the Tamaqua Area School District Administration building, the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Majestic House Apartment Complex, the Tamaqua Public Library and the Tamaqua Post Office.Residents must complete the form each year to qualify for the tax exemption.Exoneration forms must be submitted by Friday, Jan. 31.Scholarship offerXi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society is offering a $500 educational scholarship to one qualified woman in Schuylkill County. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.An hour of praise and prayer will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.Zion LutheranZion Evangelical Lutheran Church is offering a Saturday worship service. The contemporary style service will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the church social hall.Sunday worship services are held at 9:30 a.m. Beginning this week, the Sunday service will be held in the social hall.Also this Sunday, the prayer group will meet at 8:30 a.m.; the senior choir will rehearse at 10:30 a.m. and the scouts will meet at 6 p.m.Scouts will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.Next Sunday's service will include a Joyous Noise Offering and the Sacrament of Baptism and will be followed by a social time featuring coffee and conversation.
