Safe web surfing
The Tamaqua Safety Initiative and Live the Green Dot Tamaqua will sponsor a presentation on social networking and Internet safety on March 6.
The mini seminar will be held from 6:30to 8 p.m. at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St.
The program will be presented by Janene Holter of the state attorney general's office. It is designed to educate while stressing the importance of keeping children safe when they are online. Due to some of the subject material, students who have not reached seventh grade will not be permitted to attend.
Younger children will have the opportunity to participate in craft activities, for a donation.

Due to Thursday's storm, Friday's trash collection in Tamaqua has been postponed until Saturday.
Schuylkill On the Move (SOM), a project promoting positive steps toward good health through walking, will host a Winter Walk on Feb. 16 along the local Lehigh Valley and New England Rail Trail in South Tamaqua. The walk will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and will begin at Stonehedge Gardens, located on Dairy Road near the intersection of Route 309 and Route 443.
The four-mile ramble is considered to be an easy walk, but participants should wear appropriate footwear and dress for the winter weather.

St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will be followed by the annual congregational meeting.
Also on Sunday, rehearsal for new bell ringers will be held following the congregational meeting.
Next week's activities include: Monday, learning ministry meets at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, angel choir rehearsal at 6 p.m., shepherd choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., chancel choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.
