Police: Man fired BB gun at station

A drunken man fired a BB gun at the front glass door of the 10th Street police station in Allentown on Christmas morning, causing more than $5,000 in damage, according to court records.

One of the city's surveillance cameras caught Jason F. Rosa causing the damage around 6 a.m. Wednesday, police said. He tried to run, but a police officer caught him nearby, court records say.According to a criminal complaint:An Allentown police officer at the station at 1005 Hamilton St. heard the sound of glass breaking and saw the front door was shattered.The officer radioed that someone shot out the front door and dispatchers at the communications center looked at footage from a surveillance camera at 10th and Hamilton streets and saw a man wearing a black sweater and blue jeans running away.After police caught Rosa in the 1000 block of Edison Street, they looked at the surveillance video and saw him walk by the station, pull a BB gun and shoot at the station.Damage was estimated at $5,100. Police said Rosa had a strong odor of alcohol and admitted drinking earlier.Rosa, of the 300 block of South 15th Street, was charged with institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arraigned by District Judge Wayne Maura and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $50,000 bail.Distributed by MCT Information Services
