A Lehighton woman who says she fell after her foot stuck to the floor of a bowling alley is suing the owner of the lanes for negligence.
Susan Andrews, of 625 Owl Creek Road, filed the suit in Carbon County Court against Brian and Donna Steigerwalt, who own Cypress lanes, 140 N. Fourth St., Lehighton, for $15,000, plus costs and interest. In her suit, Andrews says her foot stuck to an unknown substance on the floor of the bowling lane on Jan. 23 as she approached the lane. The sticking made her lose her balance and step from the runway onto the oiled surface of the lane, making her fall backward, landing on her back.Andrews says she was treated in the emergency room of Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, and incurred significant medical expenses in the form of hospital visits, doctors' bills, prescription medication, physical therapy and chiropractic care. The suit also contends Andrews suffered, and will continue to suffer, the loss of enjoyment of life and past and future pain, suffering, inconvenience and emotional distress.
