Man in jail after abducting daughter

A man who abducted his 4-year-old daughter in Palmerton over the weekend is currently being housed in Bucks County as he awaits charges.

Timothy Simcsuk, 25, is being housed on a probation warrant issued by Carbon County Adult Probation after he kidnapped his daughter Saturday evening, said Palmerton Patrolman Michael Fedor.Fedor said charges are pending against Simcsuk from the borough police department. Borough Patrolman Chris Ritter handled the incident, Fedor said.He said the incident was reported to borough police at around 6:10 p.m. Saturday, at which time they were dispatched to Sixth Street and Delaware Avenue for a possible child abduction.Upon arrival, Fedor said police spoke to Lisa Fatzinger, the guardian of 4-year-old Kyleigh Simcsuk. Fatzinger currently has custody of the girl.Fatzinger told police that she had been walking her granddaughter across the street when they were approached by Simcsuk. At that time, Simcsuk engaged Fatzinger in conversation, before he knocked her to the ground, took his daughter, and fled.Palmerton police notified state police, who issued an Amber Alert for Simcsuk and his daughter possibly operating a dark-colored mini van.Media all over the state immediately got the word out about the alert. A TIMES NEWS Facebook page post drew more than 5,000 views.Officers were able to track Simcsuk's cell phone, and notified authorities in the Quakertown area, who located the vehicle matching the description, at a Holiday Inn Express in Quakertown. They then made contact with Simcsuk and Kyleigh. Simcsuk was arrested at around 10:30 p.m. Kyleigh was returned safely to her grandmother soon thereafter. This isn't the first time Simcsuk kidnapped his daughter, according to published reports.Fatzinger said he also abducted his daughter in June, at which time he took her to California, according to the report. Kyleigh was returned to Pennsylvania in August, according to the report.Simcsuk will face charges when he returns to Carbon County.Efforts to reach Fatzinger for comment in time for today's publication were unsuccessful.
