Rig crash closes Route 93 this morning

Route 93 at the intersection of Route 209 in Nesquehoning was shut down early this morning as a result of a tractor trailer crash that happened early this morning.

According to Nesquehoning police, officers were dispatched to the bottom of Route 93 at approximately 4:20 a.m., for reports of a tractor trailer over the guardrail in the southbound lane.

The driver, identified as Marrero Norberto of Palm Beach, Fla., was apparently backing up the rig for unknown reasons when he went up and over the guardrail and got the trailer stuck.

Route 93 was shut down for about an hour until Zenier Towing was able to free the rig and take it back to Hazleton.

Charges against Norberto are pending the investigation.
