Trinity Happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at 5 p.m. The Rev. Michael Frost, pastor of Zions Stone Church, New Ringgold, will preside.Second Sunday of Advent worship will begin at 9 a.m., which includes baptism of baby girls. The Rev. Guy Grube will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.Sunday School rehearsal for the Christmas program will meet at 10:15 a.m. "Great News, Great Joy" program will be presented by Sunday School children, ages 3-grade 8, during the 9 a.m. worship service on Dec. 15.Hanging of the greens and church decorating starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec 14. Anyone desiring to help is welcome.In the event of inclement weather that would necessitate the cancellation of worship services, a recording will be placed on the outgoing message of the office number, 610-377-4303, within two hours of the worship time. A cancellation would also be registered with WFMZ-TV and on that website.Christmas Eve worship schedule will be 6 p.m. family worship with music provided by the Trinity Praise Band. There will be a 9 p.m. traditional candlelight worship. Special music will be played 20 minutes before the start of each worship service.Lehighton Bible ChurchLehighton Bible Church, Jamestown and Center, will hold Ladies Night Out on Friday Dec. 13 at Old Time Christmas in Jim Thorpe. This includes dinner, shopping, and fellowship. Those planning to participate should meet at the church at 4:45 p.m.There will be a hymn sing at the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday Dec. 19.There will be Christmas caroling 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Lehighton Hi Rise.There will be a Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24.There will be a men's breakfast and fellowship at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at Beacon 443 Diner.A movie, "The Christmas Wish," will be shown on Tuesday, Dec. 31, plus there will be planned activities for the young children.Weekly services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.Crop Walk resultsAt its recent meeting Lehighton Interfaith Fellowship presented the results of the CROP Hunger Walk held Oct. 13 at the Lehigh Canal Park in Weissport. The total raised was $3,858.79.CROP Hunger Walks help fight hunger and poverty around the world through Church World Service's relief and development programs. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will come back to the Trinity Pantry.The Trinity Pantry is located at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton and is serving 400 families a month in the Lehighton Area School District. The pantry is also part of Shepherd House Inc., Carbon County's Food Distribution system.There were 151 walkers representing: All Saints Episcopal, Ben Salem United Church of Christ, Dinkey Memorial Lutheran, First Presbyterian, St. John's Union, St. Matthew's Lutheran, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran, SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran, Zion United Church of Christ and Salem United Church of Christ.LIFE also expressed appreciation for a gift card donation from the Giant Food Stores for snacks and bottled water donation from Kevin Stubits.Lehighton AMVETSLehighton AMVETS, Elwood Miller Post 106, will hold its annual Christmas party meeting on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Lehighton American Legion. Doors will open at noon and the meeting will begin at 2 p.m.
