Subdued Blue Christmas service for those struggling

St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church of Lansford will hold a special Blue Christmas service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The service is for those who are grieving, struggling with personal issues, or who simply need to celebrate Christmas quietly.It includes special prayers, music and the lighting is subdued."The Advent wreath candles are changed to white, and as each is lit, we offer words of remembrance and comfort, we sing the quiet carols, including O Little Town of Bethlehem, and conclude with candle lighting and Silent Night played as originally composed, on guitar," said Pastor Marjorie Keiter.The church is at 1 E. Abbott St.
