Lansford and Summit Hill Police, the Carbon County Sheriff's Office, and the Lansford Fire Company have teamed up to hold a spaghetti dinner and bake sale to benefit the family of one of its own.

The dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Lansford Fire Company, located on Patterson Street in the borough. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children.The dinner will help the family of David Midas, who passed away in the early morning hours of Oct. 26 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Midas, of Weatherly, served as a part-time police officer in both Lansford and Summit Hill boroughs; a lieutenant in the Carbon County Sheriff's Office; and was a member of the Lansford Fire Company.He leaves behind his wife, Julie; two sons, Gunnar and Hodge; and a third son, who is due in December; as well as his parents, David and Patricia; a sister, Kristin Sommers; and many other family members.Midas was known for his friendly personality and dedication to helping educate children about drug awareness, bullying and Halloween safety.He was a

D.A.R.E. instructor at St. Joseph Regional Academy in Jim Thorpe and SS. Peter and Paul School in Lehighton.He was also known for his love of polka music.In addition to the dinner, the Sheriff's Office set up a memorial fund for the family at the Jim Thorpe National Bank.
