Lehighton man admits to drug dealing; other pleas entered

A Lehighton man admitted to drug dealing and was sentenced to a prison term on Thursday in Carbon County court.

He was one of 13 defendants to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Sold to CIDale Alan Green Jr., 37, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-marijuana.Green was arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's office after he sold drugs to a confidential informant (CI) on or about Sept. 7, 2012. After the sale was completed the agents secured a search warrant for Green's residence at 724 Bridge St. Found in the home was marijuana and various drug items.When arrested Green admitted selling marijuana for about two years and had about 15 customers. It was noted that Green cooperated with authorities after his arrest.Serfass sentenced him to serve three to one day less 24 months in the county prison and ordered he supply a DNA sample, get and drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, and when released on parole render 100 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term on Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. He is eligible for work release privileges.Other pleasOther defendants who entered pleas included:Julian D. McKenna, 21, of Bethlehem, formerly of Palmerton, entered pleas in four pending cases. He pleaded to three counts of receiving stolen property and one of theft.The charges stem from incidents that occurred over a time frame of May to November 2011 in Palmerton. McKenna entered various vehicles and removed items. In some of the cases there was a co-defendant.Serfass placed him on probation for a total of four years and ordered he make total restitution to various victims of $1,760.49, and render a total of 200 hours of community service.Johnathan C. Turner, 29, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of terroristic threats and simple assault.He was arrested for an incident on June 22 in Lehighton. He was charged with assaulting a male and female at 207 N. First St. In a plea bargain, other charges were dropped including aggravated assault. Turner, police said, threatened the victims with a knife.Serfass placed him on probation for a total of 36 months, noting that he was going along with the plea agreement only because the two victims and police agreed to it. Serfass also ordered Turner to get both a D&A and mental health evaluations, make restitution of $912.63, and render 100 hours of community service.Chad Mack, 24, of Aquashicola, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property. He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police for an incident on July 9 at the Jim Thorpe Market.Serfass placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he render 75 hours of community service, and is not allowed to enter onto the market property during the probation period.Mack is currently serving a six-month prison term for a probation violation.Dawn Willis, 35, of New Philadelphia, formerly of Lansford, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested by Mahoning Township police for an incident at the Walmart store in which she took merchandise valued at $79.42. The merchandise was recovered.Serfass placed her on probation for 18 months and ordered him to render 75 hours of community service.Paul Berger, 21, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on March 20, 2012, by Lehighton police following a vehicle stop along Blakeslee Blvd. He was a passenger in the vehicle in which police found various drug paraphernalia and heroin. He admitted the items belonged to him.Berger admitted to a drug problem but said since his arrest he entered an inpatient rehabilitation facility and successfully completed it and continues counseling sessions.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a D&A evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Ann Marie Linda Palumbo, 27, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of simple assault. She was arrested on Jan. 27 along SR903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. According to troopers Palumbo was involved in an accident and afterward assaulted Clare Layden, who was identified as a passer-by.Serfass placed her on probation for 24 months and ordered her to render 100 hours of community service.John Tworkowsky, 20, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of retail theft. He was arrested on May 24 by Mahoning Township for an incident at the Walmart store. A second case of retail theft at the store was dropped in a plea agreement, but Tworkowsky must make restitution in both cases.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he render 50 hours of community service, and make total restitution of $39.71.Jay Michael Abelovsky, 25, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property.He admitted taking a gold necklace from Karen Foster, his mother, and selling at a pawnshop in Lehighton.Serfass placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he render 75 hours of community service, and make restitution of $98 to Time Will Tell, Lehighton, where he sold the necklace.Jesse Hackman, 20, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on June 12 by Lehighton police at a room at the Mahoning Inn along Blakeslee Blvd.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a D&A evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Michael J. Mankos, 29, of Montgomery, formerly of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on May 6 along Jamestown Street, by Mahoning Township police.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a D&A evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Robert McIntosh, 31, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of harassment. He was charged by Lehighton police with harassing his estranged wife, Kelly McIntosh.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to render 50 hours of community service, restitution of $566.79 to Kelly McIntosh, and not have any contact with her.Brian Louis Amill, 30, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count each of persistent disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, and possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on Aug. 17 when Palmerton police responded to a reported disturbance in the area of the Rusty Nail in the 900 block of Mauch Chunk Road. Amill was one of the persons involved and was taken into custody. He was unruly and fought with officers and caused damages to police equipment.On the conduct charge Serfass sentenced Amill to serve three to 12 months in the county prison with 54 days credit for time already served. He was also ordered to render 50 hours of community service when released on parole, and zero tolerance on D&A use. On the other two counts the same sentence was imposed running concurrently.It was noted Amill has a detainer filed against him by the state parole board for a violation.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
